Numerical Modelling of Axially Loaded Helical Piles: Compressive Resistance

Helical piles are foundation systems used to support compression, tension, and lateral loads. However, this type of was around the world for more than 25 years. Its behavior, especially in Iraq, is still unknown scare. The present study carried out by analyses pile using finite element method. Modeling helical geometry has been proposed through computer program Plaxis 3D. Parametric were also performed. main parametric effect a number helix, spacing between helix diameter, configuration. conclusion that as increases, bearing capacity increases further higher distance capacity. Maximum with case three-helix increased 115.4 %compared without helix. Pile 3.5 D reached 130.7 % compared 0.5 D. value displacement decreased increasing helices, while decrease helices top, middle, bottom
